Centerburg Music Department Philosophy

Our goal as a music department is to continue an established tradition of excellence while offering new and exciting opportunities for students. We want to expand their world through music. Every concert, event, trip and contests is specifically designed with education as the main purpose. We expand their horizons through music education. We want them to look back on their days in our program and be able to say, "Because of music I...", and to have had experiences and knowledge that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

Band is designed as a study in instrumental production and music fundamentals. Students will have many opportunities to learn to play new instruments and perform a variety of musical literature.

Choir is designed as a study in vocal production and music fundamentals. Students will have many opportunities to sing for personal enjoyment and perform a variety of choral literature.

Theatre is designed as a study of the dramatic arts. Students will have opportunities to participate in theatrical productions and experience all aspects of stage production.

Centerburg Music Boosters

The Centerburg Music Boosters is a group of dedicated parents and friends of the bands and choirs that support all music programs at Centerburg Local Schools.

The boosters raise money through annual fundraising events, concessions stands, sales, and other projects throughout the year. This is essential to the success of the booster organization. The boosters support the music department by purchasing uniforms, cleaning and maintaining the uniforms, purchasing equipment, repairing school owned instruments, buying musical awards, sponsoring families in need, serving as chaperones and other duties including committee members.

Parents and friends are encouraged to become active members of the boosters. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month during the school year beginning at 6:00pm in the high school/middle school band or choir room. Please consider helping to support our students in the music programs!

Communication from the Teacher

Communication will be handled in class through written and verbal announcements, e-mail,
Centerburg Music Facebook Page, Remind, and our Centerburg Music Blog. Written notice (e-mail or
hand written note) will be needed to excuse ANY conflict with the performance or rehearsal schedule, including illness, even if it is after the event.
